Kang Wansuk, the First Female Lay Leader of the Church in Joseon

Kang Wansuk led the women of the Church, taught Catholic doctrine, and spread the Gospel. Together with Yun Jeom-hye (Agatha), she sustained the community of virgins and helped women live in mutual support through their faith. Through her outstanding leadership and dedication, she became a central figure in the women’s community of faith amid persecution.
