Byeokdong: A Village of the Faithful

Many Catholics lived in the Byeokdong area (present-day Songhyeon-dong), including Jeong Gwang-su (Barnabas) and his wife Yun Un-hye (Lucia). Mass and liturgical gatherings were held in their home, and catechisms and religious articles were produced and distributed there. The faithful lived as neighbors, sharing their faith and sustaining the community. During the persecutions, Byeokdong became an important center of the Church in Joseon.
