최인철 이냐시오

최인철 이냐시오는 한양의 역관 집안에서 태어나 형 최인길 마티아에게 교리를 배워 입교하였다. 1791년 신해박해 때 체포되어 한때 배교를 약속했지만 곧 잘못을 뉘우치고 교회로 돌아왔다. 1795년 형 최인길이 주문모 신부를 보호하다 순교한 뒤, 최인철은 교회 지도층의 일원으로 더욱 적극적으로 활동하였다. 전동, 오늘날 견지동 일대에 살면서 동료들과 교리를 연구하고 복음을 전했으며, 위험에 처한 주문모 신부의 피신을 도왔다. 형 최인길이 주문모 신부의 입국을 돕다가 순교한 뒤에도 최인철은 두려움에 물러서지 않고 형의 몫까지 교회를 보살폈다. 1801년 신유박해 때 외숙모의 집에 숨어 있다 체포되었고, 포도청과 형조의 거듭된 형벌에도 신앙을 굽히지 않았다. 그는 자신이 천주교인이고 신부를 도왔다는 사실은 인정하면서도 다른 교우를 해칠 이름과 거처는 끝내 말하지 않았다. 그는 관리들 앞에서도 천주교 교리가 진리라고 설명했으며, 1801년 7월 2일 서소문 밖에서 참수형으로 순교하였다.

Choe In-cheol (Ignatius)

Choe In-cheol, Ignatius, was born into a family of interpreters in Hanyang and learned the Catholic faith from his elder brother, Choe In-gil, Matthias. Arrested during the Sinhae Persecution of 1791, he once promised to abandon the faith but soon repented and returned to the Church. After his brother was martyred in 1795 for protecting Fr. Zhou Wenmo, Choe became an even more active member of the Church's lay leadership. Living in Jeon-dong, in the area of present-day Gyeonji-dong, he studied the faith with other Catholics, evangelized, and helped the priest escape danger. He was arrested during the Sinyu Persecution of 1801. Despite repeated torture at the Police Tribunal and the Ministry of Justice, he refused to renounce his faith and explained to the officials why Catholic teaching was true. Under interrogation, he openly acknowledged that he was a Catholic and that he had assisted Fr. Zhou. He nevertheless refused to disclose any name or residence that might endanger another believer. He was beheaded outside the Small West Gate on July 2, 1801.

Choe In-cheol (Ignacio)

Choe In-cheol, Ignacio, nació en Hanyang en una familia de intérpretes y aprendió la fe católica de su hermano mayor, Choe In-gil, Matías. Detenido durante la persecución de Sinhae de 1791, prometió por un tiempo abandonar la fe, pero pronto se arrepintió y volvió a la Iglesia. Después del martirio de su hermano en 1795 por proteger al P. Zhou Wenmo, Choe se convirtió en un miembro aún más activo de la dirección laica de la Iglesia. Vivía en Jeon-dong, en la actual zona de Gyeonji-dong, estudiaba la fe con otros católicos, evangelizaba y ayudaba al sacerdote a escapar del peligro. Fue detenido durante la persecución de Sinyu de 1801. A pesar de las repetidas torturas en el Tribunal de Policía y en el Ministerio de Justicia, se negó a renunciar a la fe y explicó a los funcionarios por qué la doctrina católica era verdadera. Durante los interrogatorios reconoció abiertamente que era católico y que había ayudado al P. Zhou. Sin embargo, se negó a revelar nombres o domicilios que pudieran poner en peligro a otros fieles. Fue decapitado fuera de la Pequeña Puerta del Oeste el 2 de julio de 1801.

崔仁喆（依纳爵）

崔仁喆，圣名依纳爵，出生于汉阳的译官家庭，向哥哥崔仁吉玛弟亚学习教理而入教。1791年辛亥迫害中，他被捕并一度答应放弃信仰，但很快悔过并重返教会。1795年，哥哥因保护周文谟神父而殉道，此后崔仁喆更积极地成为教会平信徒领袖。他居住在典洞，即今坚志洞一带，与教友共同研究教理、传播福音，并帮助身处危险的周神父转移躲避。1801年辛酉迫害中，他被捕，在捕盗厅和刑曹反复受刑，却拒绝背教，还向官员说明天主教教理是真理。受审时，他坦然承认自己是天主教徒，也承认曾帮助周文谟神父。但他始终不肯说出可能危害其他教友的姓名和住处。1801年7月2日，他在西小门外被斩首殉道。
